Layers of colors show in an arch as they descend to the depths of Black Pool at West Thumb Geyser Basin. Named Black Pool when dark microbes lined the hot spring’s crater, it has since heated up to now shine as a beautiful blue pool that’s 35 feet deep. This image started me on the path to creating digital photo watercolors as I never could process it with the vibrant colors without looking overdone. That pushed me to experiment with various software programs to create a watercolor look.
